For most of Mommefit's indoor classes, we recommend you bring a yoga mat and water for yourself and a stroller / seat / carrier / blanket and some toys for your baby. For our outdoor classes, please bring your yoga mat, light weights (5 lbs) and some water for yourself and a stroller, some toys, a blanket, sunscreen and a hat for your baby.
We also ask that you wear comfortable clothes and running shoes and that you bring anything else you or your baby might need to be comfortable (wipes, diapers, bottles, etc).
No, you can use any type of stroller as long as it does not tip over easily.
Yes, of course! The cardio intervals and muscle conditioning moves keep you interacting with your baby. Sometimes you will move with her, sometimes you will move around her. Throughout the class your baby will be entertained by seeing you move, hearing you count and listening to the music and to you. Babies also get to participate by acting as resistance for mom.
Let your baby eat! All of our classes are breast-feeding friendly and you can join back in when you and your baby are ready.
Every baby gets fussy from time to time and at we almost expect it to happen. Always feel free to stop and pick your baby up (if they aren't already in your arms / carrier), take your baby out of the stroller, feed your baby, or lie your baby down on a blanket next to you while you exercise. Our classes are designed to allow you to join in again at any time.
Our classes are designed for all fitness levels and are specifically aimed at new moms. It is up to each individual to choose how hard or how easy they want to work out on any given day. Our instructors are there to motivate you and provide you with different options for each exercise, but we always recommend listening to your own body first. Don't forget that in addition to getting a good workout, our classes are also there to get you outside of the house and to encourage you to have fun and meet other moms.
We encourage you to still come out! Although we do our best to start our classes on time, we know how hard it is to get anywhere on schedule, especially if you are a new mom.
All of our classes run for an hour.
Our outdoor classes run rain or shine. In the event of severe weather (heat wave, snow storm, lightning) we will offer a make-up class.
That is up to you and your doctor, however we recommend waiting until your 6 week check-up to start our exercise program.
For our indoor classes, you can register through the city of Ottawa recreation guide online or at a city of Ottawa facility nearest you. For our outdoor classes, you can reserve your spot by sending an email to info@mommefit.ca indicating your name, email and telephone number along with the name and session day you are interested in attending.

For our indoor classes you can pay online via the city of Ottawa recreation guide or at a city of Ottawa facililty. For our outdoor classes, you can reserve your spot by sending an email as noted above (How do I start). Payment is due a week before class starts and can be made by cheque or with credit card (click on the paypal link on our website). Please note that we do not issue any refunds for missed classes. We do this so that we can keep our costs low for you!
